Polyneucleotides
Natural molecules
Polynucleotides (PN) are natural molecules, long chains of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA and RNA).
PN treatments in medical aesthetics are a promising option for individuals seeking to improve the quality, texture, and appearance of their skin without invasive procedures. By stimulating collagen production and supporting cellular regeneration, these treatments help rejuvenate the skin, reduce signs of aging, and promote overall skin health.
About Polynucleotides
- Anti-Aging Treatment: PN injections are often used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. The treatment works by stimulating collagen and elastin production, which are critical for maintaining youthful, firm skin.
- Collagen Stimulation: PN help stimulate the fibroblasts in the skin, which are responsible for collagen production. Increased collagen synthesis helps improve skin elasticity and texture.
- Cell Regeneration: PN enhance the natural regenerative processes of the skin, promoting healing and reducing the appearance of scars, fine lines, and wrinkles.
- Anti-Inflammatory Effect: PN also have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce skin irritation and inflammation, promoting a more even skin tone and reducing redness.
- Face Rejuvenation: PN promote skin regeneration, making them beneficial for improving skin tone, texture, and overall radiance. They are often used for dull or tired-looking skin.
- Scar Treatment: PN can improve the appearance of scars, including acne scars, by encouraging collagen formation and tissue regeneration in the affected areas.
- Under-Eye PN Area Treatments: used around the delicate under-eye area to reduce dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines.
- Face PN: Brightens and smooths out uneven skin tones or scars, giving the skin a more youthful and radiant appearance.
- Neck and Décolleté PN: These areas, which are often neglected in traditional skincare, can benefit from the anti-aging effects of polynucleotide treatments, helping to tighten and smooth the skin.
- Procedure Duration: A typical session can take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results, especially in cases of deeper wrinkles or significant skin damage. At Coull Aesthetics, we prioritise patient comfort – therefore numbing cream is applied prior to the injections to allow the procedure to be as pain-free as possible. Allowing the numbing cream to work is the longest part of your appointment!
- Frequency: Depending on the patient’s skin condition and goals, the treatment might be performed every 2-4 weeks, with a series of 3-5 sessions for best results. Most patients opt for three treatments initially (recommended as minimal). Maintenance treatments can be done every 6-12 months.
- Natural Results: Results are gradual and natural, improving skin texture, tone, and elasticity over time.
- Minimal Downtime: Patients can generally resume daily activities immediately after treatment with minimal recovery time.
Are polynucleotides safe?
Treatments are generally considered safe, particularly when performed by a qualified medical professional. PN are biocompatible, meaning that they are recognised by the body as natural substances, which reduces the risk of allergic reactions or other adverse effects.
Contra-indications:
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding –Not enough safety data available, so it’s typically avoided.
- Autoimmune Disorders – Especially if the condition is active. Polynucleotides may stimulate immune responses that could aggravate underlying conditions.
- Active Skin Infections or Inflammation at Treatment Site -Including acne, herpes, or any other bacterial/viral infections.
- Allergy or Hypersensitivity to fish, PN are fish-derived DNA (salmon), so fish allergies could be a concern.
- Anticoagulant Use – Increases bruising risks.
